2015 Ford Taurus Engine Options

While many of the 2015 Ford models have been redesigned for the 2015 model year, the 2015 Ford Taurus engine options will be carried over from last year’s 2014 model. That doesn’t mean that the full-size flagship is at a disadvantage, however. With a closer look at all that the new 2015 Ford Taurus will be capable of, it’s clear to see that it will have just as much success this year as it has in the past.

The new 2015 Taurus will be available with one of three different engines. Standard under the hood of the full-size sedan is a 3.5-liter V6 which will be able to produce an output of 288 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque. While the engine is able to strike an appealing balance of performance and efficiency, the 29 mpg highway rating is far from the most efficient rating produced by the Taurus powertrain options.

If you’re after superior efficiency, you’ll find that the 2.0-liter EcoBoost is the engine more capable of suiting your needs. The engine comes turbocharged, allowing it to make 240 horsepower, but as the engine only displaces two liters across four cylinders, it’s able to return unbeatable fuel economy ratings. When equipped with the engine, the Ford Taurus gets a best-in-class 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

The third engine is reserved for those who are seeking some extreme power. The EcoBoost engine is the same size as the V6 found in the base model of the Taurus, but it comes supercharged allowing it to pound out power ratings of 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Even with that extreme power the engine gets 25 mpg on the highway. The powerful six-cylinder is reserved for the 2015 Ford Taurus SHO model.

As you can see, the engine options of the new 2015 Ford Taurus are still extremely competitive, despite the fact that they have been carried over from the previous models. As the flagship hasn’t been redesigned, the release won’t be as drawn-out as the release of some of the newest 2015 models, so we expect to receive the 2015 Ford Taurus in Kansas City MO soon. Be sure to stop back here on the Matt Ford blog in the near future as we will be sure to let you know as soon as the power-hungry model arrives.
