Advantages of the Aluminum 2015 Ford F-150

Here at Matt Ford, we have been receiving quite a few questions about the 2015 Ford F-150 and how it will be different from past generations of the best-selling pickup. Of course the simple answer is that it’s different because it has a body that is constructed of aluminum rather than steel, but there is more to it than that. There are actually quite a few advantages of the 2015 Ford F-150, although it is worth noting that many of the most important of them stem from the all-new aluminum body.

Perhaps the biggest advantage of the aluminum body is that it significantly cuts down the overall weight of the pickup. When compared to past models, it’s roughly 700 pounds lighter, allowing the engines to pull a lot more than they have been able to in the past. When properly equipped, the F-150 towing capacity is as high as 12,000 pounds, which beats out the 2015 Ram 1500 and the comparable 2015 Chevy Silverado.

Another advantage that comes from the aluminum frame has to do with efficiency. Since the engine isn’t required to pull as much weight, it’s able to go a lot further on a tank of gas. As we told you when looking at the 2015 Ford F-150 fuel economy ratings, when equipped with the available 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost, which is the smallest of all the engine options, the pickup is able to get as much as 26 mpg on the highway.

On top of all of that, the aluminum doesn’t come with much of an added cost. A lot of people have been asking us about the insurance and repair costs of the lightweight metal body, and are ecstatic when we tell them that they are extremely competitive with the costs that were associated with the steel-built bodies of the past. The new skin is just as durable as it has been in the past, and yet you don’t have to pay any extra in order to acquire it and maintain it. It’s one of the biggest benefits of the aluminum 2015 Ford F-150.

If you want to experience the advantages of the 2015 Ford F-150 for yourself, be sure to get in touch with us here at Matt Ford. We would be more than happy to show you around the all-new pickup truck and let you take it for a spin. That way, you can see that there is nothing about the aluminum body that keeps the F-150 from performing exactly how it has in the past. Schedule a test drive today. You’ll be glad you did.
