2015 Ford Edge Active Parking Assist Feature

Out of all the specs and features of the redesigned Edge, perhaps none are quite as anticipated as the new 2015 Ford Edge active parking assist feature, which is one of the most revolutionary features found not only in the Ford lineup, but the automotive market in general. While the release date of the Edge won’t arrive until next year, we’ve caught wind of what the parking assist feature will be capable of.

In the past, the Ford Edge was made available with active parking assist, but the system has been significantly updated for the 2015 model year, and is now able to deliver even more in terms of driver convenience. The new active parking assist is one of many semi-automated feature in the Edge that is proof Ford is making strides toward fully automated driving, and will help to make parking safer than ever.

According to a press release from Ford sent out soon after the 2015 Ford Edge was unveiled, the full assisted parking aid will let drivers park their vehicles with nothing more than the touch of a button. The system differs from previous generations of the technology as it can now automatically park the Edge in a perpendicular spot in addition to the parallel parking ability that past models were capable of.

If you prefer to park manually, you’ll find that some of the other new upgrades for the 2015 Ford Edge are especially helpful. For example, the crossover SUV comes equipped with a new advanced adaptive steering system which allows you to more easily maneuver the SUV to fit in tight spaces. There is still no word on which of the four available trims will come with the new steering or parking assist feature.
