2015 Ford Expedition Release Date

If you’ve been keeping up with our blog, you likely know that 2014 is going to be a huge year for Ford. There are multiple models set to release this year which will be completely redesigned. Among the models which will receive a redesign for the 2015 model year are the Ford Mustang, Ford F-150 and the Ford Edge. Well, you can add one more to the list. The Expedition will also be getting a redesign, and although the 2015 Ford Expedition release date won’t be arriving until later this year, we have some information about what the all-new SUV will offer.

The biggest changes for the 2015 Ford Expedition will be found under the hood. In the interest of fuel economy, Ford will no longer offer the 310-horsepwer 5.4-liter V8 engine in the SUV. That means that it the Expedition will only make one engine available, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Right now, that’s about as much as we know.

Ford hasn’t much information about the engine, so while we have a couple of ideas, we’re not quite sure how much horsepower or torque the six-cylinder will offer. We’re also unsure of what type of fuel economy numbers it will return. All we know right now is that the engine will offer similar tuning to the EcoBoost V6 found in the Ford F-150, which also displaces 3.5-liters.

When equipped in the F-150, the EcoBoost is rated at 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. With numbers like those, it’s really not too big of a surprise that Ford has decided to pull the fuel-sucking V8 from the Expedition. In the F-150 the V6 is able to achieve fuel economy ratings of 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, but since the Expedition is a bit smaller than the pickup, we expect those ratings to increase when the engine is stuck in the Expedition.

As you can see from the picture above, the redesign has brought a number of exterior changes to the Ford Expedition. The front end has been revamped and will include optional LED foglights as well as a redesigned rear hatch. We will know more about all of the new additions when Ford makes more information about the Expedition, which should be soon.
