2015 Ford F-150 Truck Trend Pickup of the Year

Now that everything about the 2015 Ford F-150 is out there, and the all-new aluminum pickup is available for sale, Ford no longer has to hold back all of the juicy details. Everything down to the towing capacities and fuel economy ratings is now public knowledge, and not surprisingly, the numbers are being noticed by various magazines that tend to distribute awards every year. We knew that the redesigned F-150 would be a serious contender even when we knew little about it, and as it turns out, our suspicions were correct.

Truck Trend, a popular magazine that focuses on, you guessed it, trucks, recently announced their Pickup of the Year, and not surprisingly, it was given to the 2015 Ford F-150. It was named Truck Trend Pickup of the Year as it was able to outperform all of its other half-ton competitors in a range of tests that took the design, capability, performance and fuel efficiency of the vehicles into consideration.

“Ford has found a sweet spot in the half-ton pickup segment, delivering a compelling mix of efficiency and capability, while still delivering an enhanced driving experience that American consumers demand,” said Sean P. Holman, Truck Trend content director. “What we put these trucks through was nothing short of grueling, and it was the F-150 that consistently impressed our experts.”

If you have been following up on our blog, you likely already know that the new aluminum body of the new F-150 is 700 pounds lighter than it has been in the past, and that the reduced weight helps the pickup to achieve the most impressive fuel economy and towing ratings on the market. Combined with its EcoBoost engine technology, the F-150 can tow as much as 1,100 pounds more than last year’s model. The added towing power also places the F-150 above the Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado in overall capability.

To learn more about why the 2015 Ford F-150 was named as the Truck Trend 2015 Pickup Truck of the Year, we encourage you to schedule a test drive here at Matt Ford. We currently have a few different models of the aluminum-bodied pickup in stock, and can assure you that once you hop behind the wheel, you will understand exactly why it received the recognition, and why it is likely to receive just about every award that it is nominated for this year.
