2015 Ford Mustang NHTSA Safety Rating
Seeing as the redesigned Mustang has been available for a while now, there wasn’t much that we didn’t know about its specs and features. We have had the skinny on the Mustang for quite some time, but one aspect that we were unclear on was exactly how safe it is. Well, the wait for that information is over, and not surprisingly, the results are impressive. Let’s look at the 2015 Ford Mustang NHTSA safety rating.
Of all the vehicle safety administrations, The NHTSA, or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the IIHS, or Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, are the most well-known and respected. After completing all NHTSA tests, the 2015 Ford Mustang received five stars in the frontal crash test, five stars in the side crash test and five stars in the rollover crash test, giving it the highest safety rating possible.
By earning the highest possible safety score, Ford has proved that the Mustang is about more than just the performance. Safety is at the forefront of the design of the pony car, and with a closer look at some of the safety features of the Ford Mustang, it’s clear to see exactly how it was able to secure the top safety score.
Seeing as the Mustang was redesigned from head to toe for the 2015 model year, Ford took the time to rethink the purpose of every part of the vehicle. They doubled the airbags, upped the number of peripheral crash sensors and tweaked the pretensioning safety belt technology, helping to make the restraints more effective than they have been in the past. All of the features helped the Mustang to succeed in testing.
Keep in mind that the safety features that we just mentioned are just a small part of the multitude of new features finding their way into the Mustang. A while back, we told you about the new knee airbags and about the Sync 911 Assist System, which gives the vehicle the ability to dial 911 right after an accident.
With such a variety of systems available in the 2015 Ford Mustang, the level of safety that you want is essentially up to you. It is worth noting, however, that even if you don’t opt for the special features, all models of the redesigned Mustang offer the same level of standard safety. Even a featureless Mustang has the ability to ace every single one of the tests conducted by the NHTSA. Safety comes standard.
