2016 Ford Mustang Release Date
Seeing as the Ford Mustang was completely redesigned for the 2015 model year, you would expect that the 2016 model will be a complete carryover, but such is not the case. Ford, an automaker who continues to strive for perfection, has given their next-generation pony car a number of tweaks, all of which will debut when the 2016 Ford Mustang release date arrives in the third quarter of the year.
As we told you when discussing the packages and upgrade features of the 2016 Ford Mustang, many of the changes will be available with the performance-tuned GT. The Premium trim level will be made available with a Pony Package, Black Accent Package, and the California Special Package that we highlighted on our blog the other day. That’s what’s new. Here is what else you can expect this fall.
Ford spent quite a bit of time perfecting their 2015 Ford Mustang before bringing it to market, and for that reason, there haven’t been a significant number of changes made to the 2016 model. The only difference between the two is that the 2016 model, and the GT in particular, will be available with a few different add-ons through the appearance packages that will help to give it a more unique look.
Making a return will be the three available Mustang engines that have continued to gain a great deal of popularity since the release of the 2015 model last fall. As we had suspected, among the most favored of the trio of engines is the 2.3-liter four-cylinder, which debuted in the Mustang, but has since made its way into vehicles such as the upcoming Ford Focus RS and the 2016 Ford Explorer.
When equipped under the hood of the pony car, the turbocharged four-cylinder engine is able to generate as much as 315 horsepower, making it slightly more powerful than the V6 engine that comes as standard equipment in the redesigned Mustang. The output has contributed quite a bit to the success of the engine, but there is no arguing that the 32 mpg highway rating is the number one reason that so many Mustang enthusiasts continue to gravitate towards the EcoBoost engine option.
