All-New 2015 Ford Edge Specs and Features

It feels like we have been waiting forever to see or hear anything about the new Ford Edge, but thankfully the wait is over. Ford finally pulled the curtain off the redesigned crossover, and not surprisingly, it looks even better that we first thought it would. We now know about the all-new 2015 Ford Edge specs and features, but unfortunately we will have to wait until spring of next year for the release date to arrive.

2015-ford-edge-sport-titanium-exterior-design-new-technology-unveil-release-dateAs you can see from the photos, the styling of the 2015 Ford Edge borrows heavily from the Edge Concept, which we covered here on our blog back when discussing the 2015 Ford Edge release date. The styling is not the only aspect being carried over from the conceptual design, however. The innovative parking assist feature has also been implemented in the 2015 model, along with 20 other new technologies.

There are plenty of parking assist features on the market, but none quite as revolutionary as the system found in the new Ford Edge, which will likely become the new standard for parking assist technology. The feature allows the crossover to automatically parallel park, but it also allows the driver to exit the vehicle and park the SUV in a perpendicular spot, all with just the simple touch of a button.

The innovative features of the Edge continue to be found under the hood of the redesigned crossover. The base trims comes standard with a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder which employs EcoBoost technology and comes with an optional start-stop system to increase fuel economy. The base models can also be equipped with a 3.5-liter V6, which has been refined to give it a power boost, and likely an efficiency boost as well.

One of the most popular trims of the Ford Edge has always been the Sport, and that trend is likely to continue as the 2015 Ford Edge Sport will be made available exclusively with a new 2.7-liter EcoBoost which will come turbocharged, allowing it to deliver more than 300 horsepower, according to Ford. Official power and fuel economy ratings for the new engine haven’t been announced quite yet.
