Best Affordable Sports Cars of 2015 – Ford Mustang
The Mustang continues to gain a great deal of popularity for its impressive styling, but there is no arguing that its price is one of the most appealing aspects of the pony car. Where the Mustang really succeeds is in the balance that it’s capable of striking. It’s impressive yet affordable, and for that reason, it comes as no surprise that the new Ford Mustang was just named as one of the best affordable sports cars of 2015.
Every year, Vincentric, a company that focuses on the value of vehicles in the automotive industry, gives out what are called Best Value Awards. The company measures cost of ownership using eight different factors which include: depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost and repairs. Vehicles with cost-of-ownership costs that are lower than expected are then chosen.
In the sports car category, the Ford Mustang was chosen as the winner, and although the redesign likely played a factor in the selection process, the new design was not the sole reason that it was chosen. We know this because it’s not the first year that the Mustang was selected as the winner of the Best Value Sports Car in America. 2015 marks the sixth consecutive win for the Mustang—an impressive feat to say the least.
There are a few awards that the Mustang has won that stem specifically from the redesign. Although it was just released at the end of last year, it is winning just about every award that it’s nominated for, and the list of awards continues to pile up. Here are all the awards that it has managed to win so far:
- Detroit Free Press Car of the Year
- Cars.com Shoppers’ Choice Award
- Kiplinger’s Best New/Redesigned Car
- Edmunds.com Most Popular Awards: Entry Sport Car
- 2014 SEMA Show “Hottest Car”
- 2015 Automobile All-Star
- Car and Driver 10Best
- Road and Track “Performance Car of the Year” Finalist
- “North American Car of the Year” Finalist
- “World Car of the Year” Finalist
The redesign of the 2015 Ford Mustang, as well as the fact that it’s one of the best affordable sports cars on the market have helped to make it the best-selling sports car in America, which is another award that we did not list. The Mustang is on a hot streak and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
