Flashback Friday: Ford Bronco

Throughout its lifespan, the Ford Bronco went through a couple of rocky patches, but it was nothing that the off-road capable SUV wasn’t able to handle—it was built to overcome obstacles afterall. The Bronco endured for a total of 30 years, and while production was ultimately ended, the two-door SUV still lives on in our hearts.

From what we’ve found, the reason for the Bronco’s tragic demise is not commonly known, so for this week’s edition of Flashback Friday, we’ve set out to find out what truly happened to the Ford Bronco.

Flashback Friday: Ford F-Series

If you’re familiar with the Ford F-Series, you likely know that it has been the best-selling line of pickup trucks for the last 37 years. The feat is quite impressive, especially considering the fact that the trucks have been around for 66 years. It has spent more than half of its life on the top of best-seller lists, but a lot of blood, sweat and tears have gone into the long-standing success of the F-Series.

To show you how the award-winning line of pickups has achieved such a great deal of success, we’ve decided to take a closer look at the Ford F-Series for this week’s edition of Flashback Friday. (more…)

Flashback Friday: The Life and Death of the Ford Pinto

Flashback Friday: Ford Pinto

Although it has been more than 30 years since the last model rolled off the production line, the Ford Pinto continues to receive a great deal of flak. It’s essentially impossible to scroll through any list of the World’s Worst Cars without seeing mention of the Pinto, but we don’t really understand why.

We’ll be the first to admit that the Pinto had some problems. It ran into some legal troubles after it was determined that a design fault was causing certain models to leak gas and combust in rear-end collisions, but many of the subcompact’s issues were blown out of proportion by the media, and years after the Pinto was laid to rest in 1980, studies determined that the subcompact car was as safe, or safer than, the other vehicles in its class.

So why then does the Pinto get thrown under the bus so often, and so carelessly? That’s what we’ve set out to answer in this week’s edition of Flashback Friday. (more…)

Flashback Friday: 1964 Ford Mustang

Here on the Matt Ford blog we spend plenty of time telling you about all of the new and upcoming Ford models on the market, but we realize that if you’re not a diehard Ford or car enthusiast, combing through all of the specs and features of the newest Ford models isn’t exactly the most exciting thing to do day after day. So, we’ve decided to spice things up a bit.

The Ford Motor Company has been in existence for 101 years, and to show you how some of the models have progressed over time, we’ve decided to kick off Flashback Friday, which will now be a weekly feature on our blog. We’ll be spending time going over the best and worst Ford models and features. You won’t be seeing anything on any models from the past five years, but anything before that will be fair game. To kick things off, we’re going to start with perhaps the most iconic Ford out there, the 1964 Ford Mustang. (more…)
