New Features and Changes for 2016 Ford F-150
For quite some time now, the F-150 has been the best-selling pickup truck in America, and there is a reason that it has been able to continue that streak for nearly four decades running. While the vast majority of automakers with a vehicle in a top spot on the market typically feel that you shouldn’t fix what isn’t broke, Ford continuously finds ways of improving their product. It’s especially true when you take a look at the 2016 Ford F-150, which has received a number of new features and changes.
Perhaps one of the biggest changes for the F-150 is the inclusion of a new Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature, which is the first of its kind. The feature takes the stress out of backing up the truck when there is a boat or trailer attached. With a knob conveniently located inside the vehicle, all drivers have to do is spin the knob, rather than the wheel to control the load. The truck does the rest of the work.
Another one of the new features set to make its way into the 2016 Ford F-150 is the latest SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system. As the name suggests, there have been two previous versions of the SYNC system, but none have been quite as impressive as the third-generation, which will be faster and more responsive than ever before. In addition to the speed upgrades, the system will feature enhanced voice recognition, a high-speed touchscreen and an easier-to-use interface.
One of the other interesting new additions to the 2016 Ford F-150 is the inclusion of a Compressed Natural Gas/Propane gaseous fuel prep package, which, as you would expect, allows the pickup to run on either CNG or propane. The package is available exclusively for 5.0-liter V8-equipped models of the F-150 and will help to reduce operating costs, as well as tailpipe CO2 emissions.
There will also be just a few styling upgrades that will be made available for the F-150. XLT and Lariat models will add an available Special Edition Appearance Package, and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with painted silver pockets will be available on the XL trim. In terms of colors, Shadow Black will replace Tuxedo Black and Lithium Gray will replace Guard Metallic.
