New Features and Technologies of the 2015 Ford Edge
A few weeks ago, Ford unveiled the highly anticipated Ford Edge, and now that we know more about what the SUV will be capable of, we thought we would share a bit of the juicy details with all of you. As you may have heard, the redesigned Edge will come equipped with a slew of new additions, and to better inform you about what the all-new model will contain, we’re taking a closer look at the new features and technologies of the 2015 Ford Edge.
The list of electronic features in the redesigned Edge are seemingly endless, but as a few of them have already been found in Ford models, we have decided to focus only on the features that have never been found in a Ford before. That’s right, the 2015 Ford Edge will come loaded with a slew of fresh technology that has never even been implemented in a vehicle in the past. It’s one of the many reasons that the 2015 model of the Edge is already becoming one of the the most sought-after SUVs of the year.
A short while back, we discussed the 2015 Ford Edge active parking assist feature, and while that is one of the most revolutionary features, it’s not completely brand new. The system has been found in past models of the Edge, but what separates this edition of the parking assist from previous generations is the fact that the Edge will now be able to park in perpendicular spots with the touch of a button. All you have to do is shift, accelerate and brake, and the Edge will take care of the steering. In the past, it was only able to perform parallel parks.
Another one of the Ford-first features for the Edge is adaptive steering, which will allow drivers to better control the SUV in a variety of situations. The system is able to continually alter the steering ratio and optimize steering control. Similar systems have been used in the past, but as they used fixed steering ratios, they were not quite as effective as the adaptive steering system of the 2015 Ford Edge. According to Ford, the innovative steering system will come standard on the Sport trim of the Edge and will be made available for the Edge’s brand-new Titanium trim level.
There are a few more new additions to the Ford Edge which will help to increase the fuel economy of the SUV. That includes active grille shutters, engine automatic stop-start and a new active air curtain which has been engineered to direct air more aerodynamically alongside the vehicle, which in turn will boost the already impressive efficiency ratings.

We have been putting together a ton of information about the upcoming SUV in an effort to keep you busy while you wait for the official release date to arrive. From what we’ve heard, the all-new Edge won’t arrive until spring of next year, so it’s going to be a while. It’s unfortunate because we are really looking forward to putting the new features and technologies through the paces for ourselves.
