New Updates for Redesigned 2015 Ford Edge
The Edge, which is positioned in the center of the Ford SUV lineup, continues to gain a great deal of popularity as it is able to provide appealing fuel economy ratings similar to the smaller Escape, and yet it has a spacious cabin that makes it possible for the midsize crossover to take on cargo similar to the Ford Explorer and Expedition, two of the larger SUVs in the Ford family. Another one of the reasons that it is getting some traction is because the Edge has been completely redesigned for the 2015 model year.
As you would expect, with the redesign comes a number of updates and upgrades. Just by looking at the SUV, a few changes are immediately apparent, but some of the most important updates can not be seen from a picture. For that reason, we’ve decided to take a look at just a few of the new updates for the redesigned 2015 Ford Edge. There are many, but here are the ones you definitely need to know about.
Active Parking Assist Feature
One of the most revolutionary updates for the all-new Edge is an active parking assist feature, which gives the SUV the ability to park all on its own. If you are familiar with Ford technology, you likely know that a self-parking feature has been available in the past, but this is an upgraded version of that system. Now, in addition to parallel parking, the Edge has the ability to maneuver its way into a perpendicular parking spot.
2.7-Liter EcoBoost V6
Past generation models of the Edge were made available with 3.7-liter V6 engines, and although there will still be a six-cylinder option in the midsize SUV, it will be a bit smaller. The Edge will get the same 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 found beneath the hood of the Ford F-150, and it will produce similar outputs. When firing on all cylinders, it will have the ability to generate as much as 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque with ease.
With the new engine, fuel economy upgrades have also been made. When all power is directed exclusively to the front set of wheels, the Edge Sport will be able to travel as far as 18 mpg in the icy and 27 mpg on the highway, giving it a combined rating of 21 mpg. Even if you opt for the all-wheel drive version, you can take advantage of impressive ratings of 17 mpg and 24 mpg in the city and highway cycles respectively.
The active parking assist feature and new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine are two of the biggest updates for the 2015 Ford Edge, but once again, as the midsize SUV has been redesigned, there are quite a few other new changes.
