Official 2015 Ford Edge Sport Performance Specs

Since it was announced, we’ve been kept in the dark about the Ford Edge release date, only knowing that the mid-size crossover would arrive sometime in the first quarter of the year. Just today, however, Ford announced the official 2015 Ford Edge Sport performance specs, and as we now know what the SUV will be capable of, we expect to see the fully-redesigned Edge arriving here in Kansas City MO quite soon.

Not surprisingly, beneath the hood of the all-new Edge Sport will be an EcoBoost engine, which is the sole reason that it will be able to provide such impressive capabilities. The engine is the same one found in the nose of the redesigned 2015 Ford F-150, which was recently awarded a Green Truck of the Year award, as though it’s unsurprisingly powerful, it’s able to produce some extremely impressive economy ratings.

The EcoBoost that we are referring to is a 2.7-liter V6, which has the ability to produce as much as 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Since the size of the engine is smaller than normal for a six-cylinder, the engine doesn’t have to use nearly as much fuel. This is what allows front-wheel drive models of the 2015 Ford Edge to produce ratings of 27 mpg on the highway. Opt for all-wheel drive and you can still get 24 mpg.

In addition to the new engine, the Edge will come equipped with a number of new technologies, such as a parking assist that will allow you to park the SUV in a parallel or perpendicular spot with the touch of a button. All you have to do is control the gas and brake pedals. Active Noise Cancellation will also be used in the Edge, and with sounds being pumped into the cabin, you will be able to hear the EcoBoost perfectly.

With the aforementioned power and fuel economy numbers, we now know everything that there is to know about the upcoming Ford Edge Sport.
