What are the Most Fuel Efficient Ford Vehicles?
Gas prices are almost always on the fritz, and as they can be nearly impossible to predict, the only way of making sure that you are able to defend against the costs is to get a vehicle that sips, not gulps. If you have been looking for an efficient vehicle and want to get one with the blue oval up front, you will be sure to appreciate that you have more than a few options. To break it down, we thought that we would provide you with an answer to the question: What are the most fuel efficient Ford vehicles?
As you would expect, it’s the smallest vehicles that typically offer the highest fuel economy ratings, and for that reason, there are two Ford offerings that stand apart from the rest. The Fiesta and Focus, classified as a subcompact and compact car respectively, offer the highest ratings of any vehicles in the Ford lineup, and as they get over 40 mpg, their ratings are sure to be what you’re looking for.
There is a somewhat uncommon engine that has been offered in the Ford Fiesta for quite some time. It’s unique because it only displaces a single liter across three cylinders. In the past, the little engine that could was only offered in the Fiesta, but for the 2015 model year, it has also been brought to the Ford Focus. Seeing as the Focus is slightly larger, the engine is not able to produce the exact same ratings as it does in the Fiesta, but even so, the numbers are higher than what you’ll find anywhere else.
When loaded into the nose of the Fiesta, the three-cylinder engine is able to achieve ratings of 31 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway, which is not far off from a lot of the hybrids out there. It has more than just efficiency going for it, however. The three-cylinder engine takes on Ford EcoBoost engine technology, meaning it comes turbocharged, helping it ot shell out up to 123 horsepower.
As we said, when equipped in the Ford Focus, the award-winning three-cylinder engine is not quite as impressive, but that’s not to say that it’s not impressive at all. In fact, its numbers are only off by a single mile-per-gallon in each cycle. The Focus is able to travel 30 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway when loaded with the 123-horsepower engine. It doesn’t really get much better than that.
Here at Matt Ford, we currently have both the Fiesta and the Focus in stock here in Eastern Independence, and if you are in the Kansas City area and want to see what the three-cylinder engine is capable of, there is now nothing that stands in your way of doing so. Before you take the next step, however, check out our fuel savings calculator to see exactly how much you could save at the pumps by switching to either the Fiesta or the Focus.
