2015 Ford Taurus vs 2015 Chrysler 300

Two vehicles that continue to gain a great deal of popularity in the U.S. market are the Ford Taurus and Chrysler 300. That is because they are both members of trusted automotive families, and because they both are able to deliver impressive levels of performance and luxury, but at a price that is more affordable than you may think. The pair of vehicles have been competing for the top spot in the segment for a few years now, but not surprisingly, one of the two always seems to come out on top. To show you exactly what we mean, let’s look a bit more closely at the 2015 Ford Taurus vs 2015 Chrysler 300.

Consumers in the market for full size sedans such as the Taurus and 300 are typically looking for one thing in particular. They are looking for a vehicle that is not only able to produce a significant amount of power, but that is able to balance that power out with some money-saving fuel economy ratings. As that is most often the case, it comes as no surprise that both the Ford and Chrysler offering are able to produce an appealing balance of capabilities. There is one model that is a bit more capable than the other, however.

The pair of full size sedans both come standard with a V6 engine beneath the hood, and as they are roughly the same size, they produce similar outputs. The 3.5-liter V6 of the Taurus has the ability to make as much as 288 horsepower, which is a significant amount of oomph when you take its size into consideration. It does fall a bit short of the 292-horsepower V6 of the 300, but as the difference is a small four horsepower, it’s hardly noticeable. Plus, is makes up for the slight gap in power with its efficiency.

Benefits of the 2015 Ford Taurus

The V6 that we just mentioned comes as standard equipment in the Taurus, but the flagship sedan also has a few other options to choose from—both which come with the highly-sought-after EcoBoost technology that continues to find its way into newer Ford engines. There is a four-cylinder option as well as another V6 option. The six-cylinder helps to deliver power—365 horsepower to be exact—and the four-cylinder focuses more on fuel efficiency. With the turbo-four under the hood, the Taurus has the ability to travel as far as 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, which makes it slightly more efficient than the 300.

Although the capabilities of each vehicle are definitely important, there is no arguing that one of the biggest advantages a vehicle can have is an affordable price. Not surprisingly, that is something that you can find with the Taurus as well. While the models of the Chrysler 300 start above $30,000, the Taurus is available with a starting price of $27,055, making it extremely affordable. When you consider all that comes with that low price, it’s quite easy to see why so many continue to choose the Taurus over the 300.
