2016 Ford Explorer Kansas City MO

For 25 years, the Explorer has been one of the most popular vehicles in the Ford SUV lineup, and for that reason, the automaker continues to provide it with various updates that help to keep it well in line with the times. For the 2016 model year, the Explorer has received a significant facelift that includes quite a few new changes on the front end, as well as the addition of a brand-new EcoBoost engine option that will help the increasingly-popular SUV to achieve an extremely appealing balance between power and efficiency.

The release of the revised Explorer is set to arrive this summer, so although we don’t have the 2016 Ford Explorer in Kansas City MO quite yet, it won’t be long before it arrives in our showroom. To prepare you for the day that it does arrive, we thought it would be helpful to take a closer look at some of the exciting new Explorer offerings. That way there are no surprises when you arrive for your test drive this summer.

As you can see from the photos that we have provided, there have been some pretty significant changes made to the front end of the Explorer. Everything that sits in front of the A-pillars has been tweaked, and with a brand-new face, it almost appears as if the Explorer has been completely redesigned. Up front, the headlights have been exchanged for LED signature lights. They sit on either side of the new grille, which takes on a look that has never been seen on a Ford before. The new Ford Explorer truly is one of a kind.

Performance of the 2016 Ford Explorer

Earlier we mentioned that the Explorer is taking on a new EcoBoost option for the 2016 model year. If you are familiar with the Ford engine line, the new powertrain addition may sound familiar. That’s because the refreshed Explorer will get the same 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine offered in the Ford Mustang, as well as the upcoming 2016 Ford Focus RS. The official power or fuel economy ratings have yet to be announced, but the engine is likely to turn an output that is somewhere in the ballpark of 300 horsepower.

The four-cylinder EcoBoost addition will replace the 2.0-liter engine that was offered in past models of the Explorer, and as the new option will be more powerful and more efficient, that comes as no surprise. The Ford Explorer will still offer both the naturally-aspirated and turbocharged flavors of its 3.5-liter V6, which is sure to please those who seek more power and plan to use the full-size SUV for towing. Regardless of engine, the refreshed 2016 Ford Explorer will deliver the range of capabilities that it is so well known for.

Another new addition for the 2016 model of the Ford Explorer is a Platinum trim level, which will add a great deal of features that will give the SUV more of a luxury feel. It will also offer up new features such as the enhanced Active Park Assist feature found in the 2015 Ford Edge and a foot-activated liftgate that will make loading the Explorer easier than ever. Speaking of loading, the Explorer will come with the same 80.7-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity, making it possible to bring just about anything along for the ride.

As we said, the 2016 Ford Explorer will be arriving at dealerships nationwide this summer. If you want to be among the first in Kansas City MO to own the attractive and sporty new SUV, we encourage you to get in touch with us here at Matt Ford. We can’t get you behind the wheel quite yet, but we would be more than happy to setup an appointment so that you can hop in the driver’s seat as soon as it does arrive.
